OK, we realize that we've put a lot of baseball in our blog recently. We suppose that that's a consequence of getting the 16-game partial season plan. Seeing the Dragons play baseball is a significant part of our lives this year. That said, we decided to not make a blog post everytime we go see a game.
But, three baseball games in six games is probably blog worthy, especially when one of them was a MLB game!
The first game was last Wednesday. Anna & Maureen had commitments at church, so Shaun invited a coworker and her son to come enjoy the game with us. The two boys were similar in age and had a good time talking about baseball and sports and all sorts of things during the game, while Shaun had an opportunity to not talk about work things with someone from work. The best part was that the Dragons blew out the Fort Wayne Tincaps, 14-2!
Four days later, we made a collective oopsie and forgot that we had tickets for the Sunday game right after church (we hadn't really flipped the calendar over to the next week yet). Shaun figured it out halfway through Sunday School. We had planned to just bring a change of clothes for Sunday games, but since we didn't, we had to come up with a new plan. The four of us snuck out right after the sermon was over, drove home, did a quick change of clothes, and drove right back to the stadium. Normally, we try to eat before we go, so we're only snacking in the park. We had no time Sunday, though, so it was pizza, cheesesteak, and burgers for lunch. Again, the Dragons stomped the Tincaps, 17-1!!
The very next day, Shaun's office had planned an outing to catch the Cincinnati Reds play the New York Mets. About 20ish left near the end of the day to rally at a restaurant near the stadium and then get seats near each other. The Reds are really good with military discounts, so we were able to save a lot of money. We also were able to bounce around in our seats a bit and catch up with different people throughout the game.
While Anna & Shaun prefer the minor league games better, one perk of the MLB game is that the sponsor freebies seem a bit better. The Reds ended the game by throwing the 11th strikeout over the course of the game, which was the strikeout needed for LaRosa's to give every ticket holder a free one-topping small pizza! Someone else gave Shaun their ticket, so we now have two free pizzas (something we don't) out of a really fun game to watch.
So, not only was it three games in a week, but the home team also won all three times, too! This may be as good as baseball gets for this family.
